The client processes payments for merchants and also offers POS terminals and gift card processing. We rebuilt the web application its team uses to manage resources, inventory and listings, replacing an older system without losing its data.

Challenge

  • Move a legacy system to newer technology while keeping existing data and its mappings intact.
  • Stop merchants from editing the PDFs that administrators send them.
  • Hide certain fields from merchants whenever a document is shared.
  • Handle intricate calculations, and migrate data that needed restructuring, including the links between inventory, batches, documents and merchants.

Solution

  • We defined the user functions first, then split the application into modules so each role sees only what it needs.
  • Editable fields in shared PDFs were switched off, and confidential fields are left out of the copy a merchant receives.
  • A batch file processing feature tracks every upload, the work in progress and any failures along the way.
  • We built a residual report that covers the complex calculations, and completed the data migration.

Results

  • Lead generation and merchant flows are more streamlined.
  • Documents shared with merchants can no longer be edited, and confidential fields stay hidden.
  • Uploaded files and processing failures are visible in one place.
  • Residual reporting now covers the complex calculations.
